FX settlement

FX settlement (value) date calculator

Add business days to a trade date using both currencies' payment-system holidays: US Fed for USD, TARGET2 for EUR, BACS/CHAPS for GBP. Free, no sign-up.

Simplified on purpose: it counts days open in both currencies' payment calendars. Real FX spot conventions add rules (for example how a USD holiday on the first day is treated) that vary by bank and pair, so confirm with your bank or platform.

Examples from our data

PairTrade dateT+2 business days in both calendars
USD/EUR2026-12-23 (Wed)2026-12-28
GBP/USD2026-12-23 (Wed)2026-12-29
EUR/GBP2026-12-23 (Wed)2026-12-29

Why GBP pairs land a day later in 2026: Boxing Day (December 26) falls on a Saturday, so BACS/CHAPS close on the substitute day, Monday December 28, while the Fed and TARGET2 are open.

Settlement date vs payment date

The settlement (value) date is when both sides of the trade are exchanged. A payment date in a contract or invoice is whatever date the parties agree, and it may or may not be a business day; the payment system only moves money on its own business days.
